Why Losing Weight Fast Is Not for Everyone

Most will agree that losing weight fast is far better than slowing it down, but losing weight fast may not be suitable for everyone. Here are some examples of some people who might have to at least consult a doctor first (this does NOT mean medical advice, or anything close to him. Requests to consult a doctor for medical advice):

1. Health problems: Pushing your body to lose weight slowly can be healthy in many cases, but push it too fast, and you can ask for problems. For example, people at risk for blood circulation / heart / breathing are not suitable for obvious reasons. In general, things like exercise can strengthen your heart and increase your age, and help you stay fit.

2. Very young/old: Common sense says that those who are very young, or old, may have additional health risks in general compared to the middle-aged population.

3. Pregnant: Most doctors advise healthy pregnant women to exercise and eat healthily. Very fast weight loss is just a bad idea for mother and baby.

4. Sick: This fits alongside the “health issues” point. Pushing your body to its limits often can degrade its ability to recover from any illness.

5. Being overweight: Historically, there have been many cases of overweight individuals who lost a ton of weight quickly, and then experienced heart failure and other problems. Again, if you are truly overweight, you should work with a doctor to make a weight loss plan that is safe for you.

6. Less prepared: Fatigue, physical / emotional stress, lack of sleep, etc … are some things that when combined with rapid weight loss, can cause the body to experience unnecessary stress.

NOTE: Slow weight loss actually proves better. This can be generated from:

1. Lifestyle changes: People create more semi-permanent lifestyle changes (slow weight loss), vs a very aggressive weight loss regimen (fast weight loss). After rapid weight loss, dieters clearly will not continue the same weight loss program, and the possibility of returning to old lifestyle habits.

2. Fluid loss: Some weight loss techniques, such as making yourself starved, supplements of diuretics, etc …, can cause temporary loss of water in your body, restore water and hence weight.

3. Other strong supplements: When you stop taking supplements, will your body return to its original state? It’s best to make lifestyle changes with a fast weight loss program so you can maintain it.
